April Challenge at Craft for the Craic

Hi Everyone,
I am back today with My DT Project for the April Challenge over at Craft for the Craic
This Months Challenge is :-

I decided to do a Mixed Media Picture, and knew pretty quickly that I wanted to include the Saying "Spring has Sprung"

I have used lots of different punches, and also used lots of stash that I have had for over 10 Years!!!

I started out with a 6" x 12" piece of Chipboard, I used a piece of printed tissue paper and crumpled it into a very tight ball in my hand, I did this a few times to make sure it was very wrinkled, I then stuck it to the chipboard with Claudine Hellmuth Matt Multi Medium, being careful not to flatten it too much, I wanted to keep the texture.

I then used My Brick wall stencil and using Black Archival ink I sponged it through, I didn't want it too strong as I wanted the wall to look like it was behind the pots.

A close up of the brickwork!!

I wanted a small sun in the corner but didn't have a small enough stencil, so I made one!!!
I had a Sunflower punch which loos like the sun, so I took a piece of plastic packaging and punched it
Be careful if You try this as punches are not really designed for this and it got a bit stuck I had to stand on the punch to get it through the plastic!! I don't recommend it unless you don't care too much for the punch, but it did make a great stencil!! :-)
I used Golden Modeling paste through the stencil!!

Here is a closer look at the paste
I wanted some light background colour so I uses some blue chalk on the top half and some green just along the bottom and up the sides.

You can still see the texture

I used a Martha Stewart punch to cut a strip to look like the caps you see on top of walls, I cut a tree from a Tim Holtz Die and cut it and positioned it to look like it was behind the wall.

I stamped a bird house and a little bird and coloured and fussy cut them, to add some detail to the tree

I used some Fluffy paint to make some clouds, I used the heat gun to puff them up, love the texture

I used a ticket cut from a Tim Holtz die to make a sign, stamped Has Sprung and stuck 2 little butterflies for decoration.

I coloured the Sun using Pro Markers

I punched lots of flowers and layered them up

I punched leaves and stuck them in position, for the stems i used paper string and coloured it using Alcohol Markers. I also punched out the Pots and the grass which I placed in front of the pots this adds depth and also grounds the whole picture!!
For the letters I have a story!!!
I wanted to use My Tim Holtz die to cut them but while I was cutting the Tree My Vagabond went up in Smoke!!!! :-( So I had to improvise and luckily I had the negative from a previous strip of letters I had cut so I used this as a stencil and traced and cut out the letters!! I am not happy with them, so I didn't stick them down and will replace them as soon as I get My new machine!!!

This is the finished Picture, The light wasn't great when I took it, If I can get a better pic I will replace this one!! :-)

Well I hope You enjoyed seeing My Project, and that the step by step was helpful!!

March Challenge at Craft for the Craic

Hi Everyone, I am back today to share My Project for the March Challenge over at Craft for the Craic
This Months Theme is Something that includes Green :-) We had such a Fantastic response for February with 54 entries, let's see if We can top that this month!! :-)

My first project this month is an Altered Box, here is the step by step process!! :-)

The first two photo's seem to have been deleted from My Camera, so You will have to imagine a blank wooden box which was first painted in a green Acrylic paint!! :-)

I tore a piece of manuscript paper and inked around the edges and stuck it to the top of the box with Claudine Hellmuth Multi Medium in Matte.
I then used some of the same green paint and swiped it over the paper with a baby wipe.

I cut the pink flower from some wrapping paper and again stuck it down with the Multi Medium.

once dry I sprayed the whole box with Glimmer Mist Iridescent Gold.

A close up, hopefully You can see the lovely Shimmer effect.

inside top of box.

Interior of box

I cut out an image of a lady from a collage sheet and an image of a butterfly.
I stuck the butterfly behind the lady to give Her wings.
I put some foam pads behind the wings to give them some dimension, and curled them down.
I stuck Her to the box with Multi Medium.

I cut around the hand which looked like it was holding something and put a small foam pad behind the wrist, this gave some support and dimension.

I made a wand from a matchstick, painted it gold and put some glossy accents to give it a shine and punched a small star from some gold mirror card and stuck it to the top. I placed it behind the hand and curled the fingers to look like they are holding it.

I then stuck some pretty lace all the way around the lid using glossy accents.

Once this was dry I then stuck some flat back pearl string on top of the lace again using
glossy accents.

I cut a single ribbon rose from a length if trim and stuck it down on the bottom left corner.
I then stuck a green Cameo on to a pink button and placed them on to the rose to make a
pretty embellishment.

I had a metal butterfly and made a body for it using a charm with Believe on it and placed a pink pearl in the hole to make a head. I then stuck it to the top left of the box.

I stuck a small paper rose in the lady's hair

I used a Sakura Stardust pen colour Clear Star to add some detail to the wings on the lady.

A view of the Finished Box

I also put some false handles on the sides of the box to add the finishing touches.

I hope You enjoyed seeing the step by Step process, If You have any questions just leave Me a comment and I will get back to You.
Hope You will join us over at Craft for the Craic

Happy Crafting,

Heart Projects Step by Step!!

Hi, I am back today with a step by step on the notebook in the last post.
I didn't take photo's of the process on the canvas but I will explain a bit about how I did it!! :-)

I got this A5 size Diary, and decided it needed a bit of cheering up! :-)

I had gotten the January Creativity Magazine and there was a free gift with it, Stamp set and paper pack. I used one of the papers a small floral, it was A4 size so I cut it in half and tore the edges.
I stuck it down on the front and back covers using Claudine Hellmuth Studio Multi Medium in Matte.

I left it to dry and cut some Jute ribbon and sprayed it with Glimmer mist Iridescent Gold.
It's hard to see in the photo but it gave it a nice shimmer. I used the Multi Medium to stick this down to the left side of the book.

Next I got a small Doily and sprayed it with the same glimmer mist.
I dried it with My Heat Tool and stuck it down with the Multi Medium.

Next I took another one of the free papers from the pack it had a lovely pattern of tape measures.
I stamped the Freebie heart stamp onto the paper with Black Archival ink and cut it out, and again stuck it down with the Multi Medium.

I cut the letters from Grungepaper using the Tim Holtz Wordplay die.
I covered them with Black Acrylic Paint Dabber, when that was dry I again covered them with Distress Crackle Paint in Clear Rock Candy.
I left this to dry overnight as I feel it gives a better effect when left to dry naturally.
I again stuck these down with the Multi Medium, where the letters overlapped the jute I needed to add a bit of Glossy Accents to keep it down.

Nearly there!! LOL :-)
Next up I stuck on 2 buttons using the Glossy Accents.

I had this Forever Friend 3D Embellishment pack for ages and thought it was too cute to use!
Still can't believe I did!!
I stuck it down on 3d foam along with a few heart shape gems!

My second project is a small canvas.
I painted the canvas all over with a dark brown Acrylic paint, when that was dry
I covered it all over again with a generous layer of Crackle Medium.
I left this to dry overnight and then went over it with a coat of white Acrylic paint.
This gave the lovely crackle background.
I sprayed it with Glimmer Mist Iridescent Gold and Perfect Pearls Mist in Perfect Pearl.
I used a Spellbinders Scalloped Heart Die to cut out the Photo and inked around the edge.
It was stuck down with Glossy Accents.
Down the two sides I stuck down some pretty lace and then put a string of flat back pearls the
centre of the lace. I stuck three little roses in the corners.
I stamped the wording using a Kaisercraft Stamp set, I stuck it behind a bookplate,
and added two flat back pearls for the finishing touch.
The wording says:

"Remember Life's Treasures are People not Things"

Well I hope You enjoyed seeing My projects.
I made them for the New Irish Challenge Blog
Why not come over and join in the fun!!

Hope to be back tomorrow.
Happy Crafting,
Michelle xx
